Service Description

Permaculture in your (small or large) Garden 9.30 AM to 3.30 PM £80 (up to 10 people per course) This course is taught by Al Nastase, permaculture designer accredited by Geoff Lawton's school. What we will cover in this course: We start with the basics (healthy soil ecosystem, living soil organisms and relationship with plants). Following that, we dive into the 12 permaculture principles and understand how we can apply them when designing our garden. We will explore permaculture zones and what plants and animals are suitable for each of those. After that we will introduce other permaculture concepts like: - WASPA (water, access, structures, plants and animals) - the 7 vertical layers - guilds - patterns - and so much more Chickens, ducks and lawnmowers or how we clear the grass before starting no dig beds No dig essentials: compost, woodchip, cardboard and other mulches. We will explore each of them and learn what to look for when using them in the garden plot We will spend a lot of time outside, looking at the way no dig beds evolve over time and also we will build a new bed. From seed to harvest - we will look at different options to start each plant from seed and how we can get good harvests. Greenhouses, polytunnels, hoops and row covers - the role of crop protection Pests and predators - what can be done to minimize crop being damaged Water and ponds - their role in the ecosystem Wind breaks On arrival we provide tea, coffee and biscuits We will cook and serve a home cooked lunch at 1PM.
