🌿 Permaculture Design Workshop at Trigon Farm Learn to Work with Nature, Not Against It 📅 Taught by: Al Nastase, accredited Permaculture Designer (Geoff Lawton’s School) Join us for a full-day, hands-on exploration into the world of permaculture design — a practical approach to creating resilient, self-sustaining gardens that thrive in harmony with nature. 🌱 What You’ll Learn We begin with the foundations of healthy soil — understanding living soil ecosystems, the organisms within them, and their vital connection to plants. From there, we’ll dive into: The 12 Permaculture Principles and how to apply them when designing your garden. Permaculture zones — discovering what plants and animals suit each space. Key design frameworks including: WASPA (Water, Access, Structures, Plants, Animals) The 7 vertical layers of a forest garden Guilds, patterns, and much more. You’ll also gain practical insight into: Integrating animals — from chickens and ducks to natural “lawnmowers” that help clear grass for no-dig beds. No-dig gardening essentials — compost, woodchip, cardboard, and other mulches: how to source, use, and maintain them effectively. Building a new no-dig bed and observing how established beds evolve over time. Seed to harvest – propagation techniques and strategies for abundant yields. Crop protection – using greenhouses, polytunnels, hoops, and row covers. Pest and predator balance – encouraging biodiversity to protect your crops naturally. The role of water, ponds, and windbreaks in a thriving ecosystem. This course is packed with outdoor learning, hands-on practice, and real-life examples from Trigon Farm. ☕ On arrival: Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided. 🥗 Lunch: Enjoy a home-cooked meal at 1 PM, made with seasonal ingredients from the farm.
